Hannah Montana made them America’s favorite TV father and daughter. Real life had other plans.
The trouble started when Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus divorced in 2022 after 30 years of marriage, splitting the entire Cyrus family down the middle. When Tish remarried actor Dominic Purcell in August 2023, Miley served as bridesmaid and walked her mom down the aisle. Her siblings Noah and Braison were noticeably absent and were spotted at a Walmart in Los Angeles the same day. Two months later when Billy Ray married Australian singer Firerose, none of the kids showed up at all. Shortly after, Miley and her dad unfollowed each other on Instagram.
The most pointed public snub came at the 2024 Grammy Awards, where Miley won Record of the Year for Flowers and thanked her mom and sister in her speech without a single mention of Billy Ray. He reportedly reached out to congratulate her anyway. She kept things cold.
The drama eventually died down and by May 2025 the two reunited at brother Braison’s birthday party. They then appeared together in a Hannah Montana 20th anniversary teaser, smiling for the cameras like none of it ever happened.
