Lana Del Rey has spent her entire career writing songs about doomed romance and tortured love. Her actual dating history turns out to be considerably weirder and more entertaining than anything on her albums.
After a brief link to rapper G-Eazy at Coachella 2017 that went nowhere, she started dating Sean Larkin, a real life police officer and TV analyst for Live PD, in late 2019. The internet found this deeply amusing given her aesthetic. They split by March 2020 after a few months of very public hand-holding in New York.
Then came the engagement that never quite existed. In 2023 reports surfaced that she had got engaged to Evan Winiker, a music industry executive at Range Media Partners. She was spotted with him at the Malibu Chili Cook-Off and at a restaurant in Pioneertown, California. By November 2023 she told Harper’s Bazaar she was completely single and had recently been through a breakup. She never once confirmed the engagement publicly. The whole thing happened and unhappened without her saying a single word about it directly.
Then came the plot twist nobody saw coming. In August 2024 she was spotted holding hands backstage at Leeds Festival with Jeremy Dufrene, an alligator tour guide from Louisiana she had first met in 2019 when she took his airboat wildlife tour as a tourist. She initially denied they were dating when fans started speculating online. Then in September 2024 she obtained a marriage license in Louisiana and the two married in an intimate ceremony in Des Allemandes on September 26, 2024. She took to Instagram to call him the one and only and to complain that local paparazzi were flying drones into their windows every morning.
From a TV cop to an alligator hunter via a mystery engagement that officially never happened. Nobody is doing love quite like Lana Del Rey.
